The model of the system architecture consists of solar PV, wind turbines, BES, and distributed STES, as per Figure 1.

The EFC of the BES is significantly higher in the hybrid energy storage system than in the battery only system. When the HES system is sized, the BES capacity is minimized for optimal cost.
